Friday, March 21st, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission was ordered to pay Insomniac Events just under $400,000 in attorney fees arising from the infamous lawsuit that was filed back in 2011, but was ruled an unviable case in August of 2013.
The LA Coliseum Commission and Association had sued the mastermind and CEO behind the Electric Daisy Carnivals, Pasquele Rottela, along with his company, Insomniac Events, over allegations of bribery schemes with former commission officials. The Commission argued that this resulted in insufficient security at the Coliseum raves which led to the death of a 15 year old girl who overdosed at the 2010 EDC Vegas.
Insomniac’s attorney, Gary Jay Kaufman, followed up regarding the court ordered compensation by issuing this statement,
“We are very pleased that the Court awarded Insomniac the full amount of its attorneys’ fees. This is just further confirmation of what we have maintained from day one: this lawsuit was ill-conceived, politically motivated and publicity driven. Neither Insomniac nor Mr. Rotella did anything wrong and this lawsuit should never have been brought in the first place.”
Despite the courtroom drama, Insomniac has continued to have no problems selling out their events including EDC Vegas 2014, which sold out over 3 months before the festival takes place June 20-22nd.
Really enjoy all of these coach! can not hold out to generate a further twosome!
