After two huge remixes, one trap and another more progressive house styled we decided to get a quick interview with Logan Bohbot and find out more about what it’s like being a 16-year-old producer today.
Hey Logan, take a second to introduce yourself to our audience. Who you are and where you came from kind of thing.
Hey Ben, so I’m Logan, 16 from Greenwich, CT and a sophomore in High School. I fell in love with EDM about 2 years ago but always had a liking for it since I was 10 maybe when I heard Daft Punk’s “One More Time”, my favorite Daft song to date. I love to make music, play basketball, hangout with friends, go to concerts, and just live life with no regrets being open to everything.
What made you want to start producing music?
A lot of things made me want to produce music. The first thing, and I feel like this is common among all musicians, is the love for all genres of music we have. I am an EDM fanatic but I love rock, pop, indie, classical, rap, everything because I love music, you can’t have 6 thousand songs on your iPod like I do and have them of the same genre. Secondly, I love to make music that I want to listen to, and can connect to. They are so many great EDM musicians out there Alesso, Avicii, Tiesto just to name a couple, but they make music they want to hear and a lot of people like it, but my musician diversity allows me to produce music that I want to hear where each song serves a purpose, I just hope other people like them too.
Who are some of your biggest influences that inspire you?
From a musical standpoint my inspirations have to be, Avicii, Alesso, Tiesto, Axwell, 3LAU, Armin Van Buuren, Daft Punk, Hard Rock Sofa, Eric Prydz, Porter Robinson, and Danny Avilla because we are so close in age. I love all of their music and they get the most amounts of plays on my iPod. From a local family/friends perspective probably, John and Robert Rohrbach, Pete Agro, Eddie Meizels, Matt Marzulla as my “feedback” crew if you will, they motivate me and inspire me to keep making my track better by informing me on every little mistake they here, Robert actually tells me to use different plugins which is pretty specific. From a female point of view, Mary Andrews and Gabby Ferraro are the two main people they help me with the names of my track, they are quiet good at that and they motivate me and inspire me to continue to make music with their reinforcement and when I have “Producer Block” and just can’t generate new ideas, they’ll be there and that means a lot.
Can you describe what software you use and your setup on stage?
So on stage (mainly) I use a similar setup to Porter Robinson. I use a Traktor S2 using the Traktor software on my macbook pro with Sony MDR-7506 headphones.
What made you want to remix that will.i.am track?
I cannot lie I am a Bieber fan. I feel like #ThatPower being an EDM based track already, and having Justin Bieber vocals in it, it was a mandatory. In the description of the track I dedicated the track to the two females who inspire me (stated above) so being they are huge Justin Bieber fans I felt like this could be a song that was made out to them to thank them for everything they do for me. I love the way it came out, hopefully everyone else did too.
As an independent artist what has worked for you for promotion of and exposure for your music?
Honestly, I cannot thank blogs like WhiteRaverRafting enough. I have gained such love and support from several key blogs that have really catapulted my music to a whole new level. I also found friends tweeting, facebooking, texting about my music has been dramatic and my passion to perform and open for artists like YONAS, Hardwell, Kap Slap, Hoodie Allen and more have really helped put my name on the market.
Do you plan on releasing any original music soon?
June 7th my first iTunes + 10 other digital/physical stores album is being released. Story of Now has all original tracks with 100% of the proceeds going to a non-profit organization that 3LAU introduced me too called Pencils of Promise called POP. Aside from that album, yes many original tracks are in the works and collabs also may be coming out this summer, we’ll see!
What can we expect from you as your career continues to unfold?
That is such a tough question because I don’t want to give away anything too big. But, a lot of new music being released on Soundcloud or iTunes, a lot of performing, you may or may not see me playing in a couple festivals this summer and I may or may not be going to several college campuses this coming fall/winter. A lot is in the works, but it is all a ton of fun and I love every minute of it.
