Phases of the Moon Music & Art Festival invites YOU to come and celebrate their first year at Kennekuk County Park in south central Illinois. This is an exciting, new 4-day camping event running Sept. 11-14 that will feature feel good jams, outdoor exploring, 100% organic foods and crafts, workshops and visual/performing art installations. What more could you possibly ask for?!
The Lineup
Are you a fan of jam bands? Phases of the Moon has you covered! This is only phase one of their lineup release and this announcement features the popular band Widespread Panic, as well as a very interesting unknown act, Lunar Landing Conspiracy. Fans of Tedeschi Trucks Band, Gov’t Mule, Leon Russell, Leftover Salmon with Bill Payne of Little Feat and Galactic can also rejoice!
The Venue
Kennekuk County Park is 3000 acres in size and located right outside of Danville, IL. This is a prime location for those travelling throughout the Midwest. Located only 2.5hrs from Chicago, 1.5hrs from Indianapolis and 3.5hrs from St. Louis. The site itself features Lake Mingo (170 acre lake), hiking trails, prairie lands, streams and a collection of buildings that give this festival a small town vibe. Also, The Crescent Moon Kids Area will provide an area where parents can take a break from the crowds and participate in fun and creative children activities with their young “Phasers.” Cute, right?!
Food & Vendors
Their food court will feature quality organic meals with a variety of farm-to-table offerings. They will also host an organic farmers market, craft beer garden and a Phases General Store. An area will also be dedicated for craft vendors to sell their handmade and recycled items. It is refreshing to see a festival so dedicated to clean eating and green arts & crafts.
Art
Art is obviously a huge component to the festival and they promise an array of different kinds. From a large interactive sculpture to live art. There will also be a variety of performing artists throughout the festival. Sounds like a bohemian version of Electric Daisy Carnival! Local and national artists still have time to apply online to have their pieces featured and presented to the new Phaser family.
The Sanctuary
Unwinding from a day of music and fun can sometimes be difficult. Phases of the Moon wants to help your mind, body, and soul to stay refreshed by providing a “sanctuary.” The Sanctuary is a safe, sacred, quiet zone in a private area with Gongs, Crystal Singing Bowls, Tibetan Singing Bowls, drums, rattles, chimes and other healing instruments. They will also be providing yoga classes, meditation and other metaphysical activities.
Non-profits & Participation Row
Phases of the Moon urges festival goers to give back by teaming up with HeadCount to construct a “Phases Participation Row.” The row will give local and national nonprofits the opportunity to spread their visions and it gives US the chance to become apart of something bigger than ourselves. They are also teaming up with Conscious Alliance to host an “Art That Feeds” Food Drive. All attendees who donate 20 non-perishable items will be rewarded with a free commemorative Phases of the Moon Festival poster. All donations will benefit Illinois communities in the area!

“We’ve always looked to the moon with a great fascination and wonder. Its phases represent a cycle of renewal and a guiding light through darkness. The moon exerts a powerful pull on both the ocean tides and on our human emotions. As we began to create our festival, we thought, what better way to express the uplifting power of music and its relationship with nature than by naming it Phases of the Moon!”
