Inukshuk is no stranger to musical success, with his discography quickly getting snagged up by major record labels such as Spinnin’ Records, NCS, Armada Music, Seeking Blue and Ultra Music throughout his career. For those of us new to his world, Inukshuk specializes in filtering his expansive knowledge of instruments into his soundscapes, painting a colorful picture across multiple genres. The Canada-based producer has not only garnered millions of streams with tracks like, “A World Away”, and his collaboration with Dabin on “Another Day”, but has also worked with like minded melodic artists like Breathe Carolina and Adventure Club. Earlier this week we got a sneak peak into his new project with the title track, “Everbright”; a shining composition of piano melodies that is a breath of fresh air. While Ophelia has been focused on the world of melodic bass and heavier dubstep, the label has not limited itself to finding talent everywhere.
Everbright consists of six tracks that from start to finish takes us on a symphonic journey into his universe that we believe has found its perfect home at Ophelia. Even the album art is a beautiful reflection of the artist’s name; the meaning behind the moniker is a structure of rough stones stacked in the form of a human figure, traditionally used by Inuit people as a landmark or a commemorative sign. We gently take off with “May You Always Be”, showcasing his gentile side before slowly building up to the energetic tracks like, “Before We Start”, featuring XYV and, “Live in the Now”, featuring Josh Bogert. The former takes on an inspirational spirit and the latter takes us to Inukshuk’s more playful melodic bass side. “Broken Constellations” perfectly captures the essence of the stars with sparkling synths floating between the bass notes. Finishing out our adventure, “The Way You Are”, with popular indie pop artist The Ready Set, we experience a fully fledged out performance. Percussive sounds swells with the vocals and partners perfectly with the explosion of passionate melody.
