Exclusive Interview
How has your personal journey, overcoming medical challenges from a young age, influenced your music and career?
I believe one of the main reasons I found a place in music is due to my medical challenges. Where I’m from most kids play sports. I love sports but for me being in sports was nearly impossible due to my summers being filled with surgeries. What I could do was play the piano and work on making music. I always try to think of how my life would be different if I wasn’t born with medical issues. I’m not sure if i’d even be in the music industry. Everything happens for a reason and I wouldn’t change anything. Everything I have experienced has made me into the person I am today.
What inspired the unique combination of slap house and old-school rave sounds in your new single, and how does it reflect your artistic style?
Well, I love hard music! I was always a huge fan of the 2016 EDM Electro House stuff! I wanted to try to take a fresh take on it. Making a hard hitting drop but still keep it 2023 if that makes sense. I think the “slap house” stabs give it that groovy feeling.
Can you share how the collaboration with Blasterjaxx’s Maxximize Records came about and what it means to you?
Yes of course, back in 2021 I released my song with Tony Junior called Inception on Maxximize! My collaborator Cuebrick has also released on Maxximize many times so we decided to send it to Blasterjaxx and see if it was a fit and they liked it! Big shoutout to them for believing in the song! It’s always cool to release on a sub label of Spinnin’.
How do you manage to balance your music career with ongoing medical challenges, considering your achievements like touring with Tony Junior and performing at festivals?
This is a great question and I still have trouble with this. It is very hard to balance my music career and health. Touring was amazing but very hard on my body, especially with my current circumstances but I managed and had my friends and family always checking in to make sure everything was okay. I hope as I continue to move forward with my career I will learn how to create a balance.
As a young artist, how do you navigate the evolving electronic music scene and stay true to your artistic vision?
I think there has to be a balance between evolving with the times and staying true to yourself especially as an up and coming artist. You should always stay true to yourself but I like to find ways to incorporate my artistic vision within trending genres or try to adapt a sound that’s trending into something that resonates with my vision.
What advice would you give to aspiring artists facing challenges in their lives and careers, drawing from your own inspiring story?
First piece of advice…Believe In Yourself! It took me a while to believe in myself. With my situation I was always worried about what other people thought about me and once I stopped caring about my peers’ reactions I felt more confident which helped me grow. Secondly, be confident, not cocky. Confidence is very important but always make sure you are open to feedback and can take constructive criticism. Lastly, don’t think too far ahead.
How do you prepare for performances on the college tour circuit, and what do you hope to achieve through these live shows?
I’m very excited about the college tour! I’m preparing lots of new music and lots of throwback mashups with some of my unreleased tracks! My goal for this tour is to continue to grow my fanbase and I feel that the college market is the perfect target market for me to grow my fanbase.
Have there been any specific artists or musical influences that significantly shaped your sound and style as an artist?
Good question. I am inspired by many artists including: Deadmau5, David Guetta, Don Diablo and Chris Lake. I feel like I have kind of taken bits and pieces from each and turned it into my own sound.
What are your goals and aspirations for the future?
My main goal for the future is to continue to inspire others as much as I can. Whether it is through my music, my story or both 🙂 Musically wise, I would love to have a song on the billboard charts. Thats a huge aspiration of mine!
