Everyone knows that dance music doesn’t always get a fair spotlight at big music award shows. American Music Awards has made this consensus a little less true tonight, awarding Diplo, Skrillex (as Jack U) and Justin Bieber with the “Collaboration Of The Year” Award.
“We’re just here to keep pushing music forward, breaking stereotypes and boundaries..” – Sonny Moore
This award symbolizes how the gap between dance music and commercial/mainstream music continues to shrink. The 2015 dance scene has proven how experimentalism, versatility, and open-mindedness play an important role in artist success. 2016 is sure to showcase more extreme changes as time progresses and the scene evolves.
