The crowd was packed. Everyone was dancing without a care in the world. A mix of hits and new tracks being spun. This was what was going down on Wednesday at Empire Control Room & Garage in Austin. Art Seen Alliance partnered up with one of Austin’s coolest venues to provide one of the best shows I’ve been to in a long time. Featuring OWSLA’s own Jai Wolf, Austin favorite Bronze Whale, and FlyLo influenced Osiris, Empire Control Room was going up on a Wednesday.
The entire experience at Empire was great. Craft beers were flowing, service was exceptionally fast, and drinks were relatively cheap. The atmosphere reminded me of a low-key garage, but the energy was anything but. There were a variety of people celebrating one of Austin’s best free shows to date. Everyone came together from all different walks of life for one special reason- great live music.
Osiris livened up Empire as the opener for this epic show. He threw down his signature interstellar turned psychedelic set as the crowd warmed up. Osiris threw in some of his new tracks along with some of his older remixed tracks to provide an all-around galactic experience.
The theme of the night seemed to be throwbacks to Y2K songs. One of the highlighting moments for Bronze Whale was when the duo started playing a trippy future bass version of “Ms. Jackson.” The crowd went nuts over it as everyone was singing along and swaying to the music. The duo kept the crowd’s energy up and was a perfect segway into Jai Wolf’s eclectic set. Bronze Whale left everything on the dance floor with such an amazing set.
Jai Wolf’s set catered to every type of music lover. He opened up with his signature future bass sound but took some detours into trap, deep house, and mashups. He sampled everything from “IDFWU” to “Promiscuous Girl” to “Take U There.” The crowd felt like they were on a roller coaster going higher and higher and higher.
This show only proves that future bass is here to stay and Austin’s music community is stronger than ever. If you missed last night’s show, be sure to follow Art Seen Alliance for even more events like this including it’s annual Art Outside Festival in mid-October.
