Josh Teed is laying the groundwork for a bigger story. The Prologue, his debut on Kannibalen Records, is the first piece of an ongoing project rolling out over the next year. Across three tracks, Teed blends orchestral layers with deep bass. “A Journey Begins” opens with strings and piano before “Animus,” co-produced with Abstrakt Sonance, takes things into darker territory. Closing track “The Fray” delivers a full-blown clash of heavy beats and dramatic instrumentation, setting the stage for what’s ahead.
Before The Prologue, Teed’s music shifted through different phases. Releases like The Journey East, Recurring Dreams, and Taking It All In reflected his mix of violin-driven melodies and bold basslines. A classically trained violinist with two decades of experience, he has an incredible sense of the realm of stringed orchestra instruments and eletronic. This new project expands on this and more, drawing on his love of fantasy and history to craft a sound rooted in storytelling.
With The Prologue out, Teed is bringing his ideas to live audiences. He’s on tour with Apashe for the Antagonist 2.0 tour, adding orchestral elements to the mix, before linking up with Daily Bread on the Flash Flood Tour. Curating a lineup of standout artists for select stops, he’s making sure his shows pack as much punch as his releases. This EP is the start of something much bigger.
