Diving into music at only three years old, Josh Teed is a classically trained artist who is destined to be headlining sensation. Dedicated to his craft, Josh started learning violin when he was a toddler and ended up winning the Florida Fiddle Championship at age nine. When Josh first discovered electronic music, he instantly began experimenting and looking for ways to separate his musical identity from the norm.
Heavily influenced by the likes of CloZee, Charlesthefirst, and Govinda, Josh seamlessly blends elements of bass music with his expansive knowledge of instrumentalism. On top of being an incredible producer, Josh has cultivated a one-of-a-kind live set that encompasses didgeridoo, violin his mixing abilities, and analog synthesis in real-time. Additionally, one of Josh’s focuses is to leave a positive impact on the world. He initiated the Taiga Collective in June 2020, which is a nonprofit melodic bass label that donates all profit to wildlife conservation efforts.
Ahead of Josh’s highly anticipated album, Recurring Dreams, he teases the compilation with his new track “Ancient Illusions”. Speaking on the upcoming album, Josh says, “Recurring Dreams was a labor of love, taking just over 2 years to finish. The vision behind it was to push the envelope in regards to the marriage of instrumentalism and melody, with experimental sound design and heavy bass. There is an immense range throughout the project, from dark and heavy tunes to the beautiful and ethereal side, I wanted it to encompass the full range of emotion.”
Josh definitely exemplifies his thoughts on the album in “Ancient Illusions”. Collaborating with notorious bass duo Shanghai Doom, this hypnotic anthem intertwines wubs and bass, providing a psychedelic auditory trip for listeners. Throughout the track are intense sequences of buildups and drops. “Ancient Illusions” is clearly just the beginning for the gifted Josh and his innovative style of production.
