Jumpa & Bad Paris have yet again teamed up for another collaboration featuring American vocalist Reece. Although solo projects, Jumpa & Bad Paris have made for quite the team in their releases. Just weeks ago they released their single “Stay High” Ft. Ilira. Continuing the collaboration streak just ten days later, “Don’t Go” was released marking an astounding collaboration that will have you grooving in no time. With vocals written by Reece himself, the upbeat summer song will put you in a chilled out mood to forget about any worries. The original version of “Don’t Go” was released last August, however Jumpa employed the help of fellow German producer Bad Paris for this new released version.
Both Jumpa & Bad Paris hail from Germany and form killer productions with every release. The cross genre track is a mix of pop-EDM and captivates elements of both genres perfectly. Soothing vocals accompanied by well placed drums and synths create a new version of “Don’t Go” that we are completely in love with. Following this newest release, RaverRafting had the opportunity to talk with Jumpa about the latest track as well as his work with Bad Paris and Reece. Be sure to check out our exclusive interview below and give “Don’t Go” a listen! All three of these talented artists and are ones to keep your eye on, we look forward to hearing more from them in the future.
What originally got you into producing music?
Jumpa: I started making music when I was 14. The big brother of my friend had FL studio on his computer, so we started to make our own Hip Hop Beats when we were bored. Two years later I was still making beats and had my first placements on some German rap albums which charted in the top 20.
You hail from Germany, can you compare the electronic scene there to the US?
Jumpa: I think the German electronic scene, especially here in Berlin, is more underground but I’m not a big fan of that. Thats why I orientate myself more towards the US scene.
Tell me a little bit about your latest release with Bad Paris & Reece, what was it like to work with them?
Jumpa: So, a friend of mine showed me Reece like 1 1/2 years ago on SoundCloud. I sent him some beats and we laid down the original track “Don’t go”. Some weeks after the release I had the idea of doing an electro/pop version. Reece sent me the acapella and I finished two different ideas for the track but wasn’t really satisfied. I showed Bad Paris the tracks, who really wanted to work on them. I am very, very satisfied of the final result through this collaboration.
What was your favorite part about making “Don’t Go?”
Jumpa: My favorite part was the challenge to give the apace a completely different vibe, as the original song was so slow. It was a long process of finding some nice chords and a melody we liked.
As an artist, how would you currently describe your sound?
Jumpa: It’s my goal to do “urban electro/pop music”. Looking back at my roots as a hip-hop producer, I love mixing this dirty/urban/808 Sound with clean pop chords and a catchy melody.
Do you have any preference on sticking to one specific genre?
Jumpa: Definitely not! I love to produce different genres, take these influences and create something new out of them. If you stick to one genre you can’t grow as a producer.
What has been your favorite moment so far as an artist?
Jumpa: Oh that’s difficult to say. I think it was when i received the message that I will get my first golden record for a song I produced together with Bad Paris for the Austrian rapper Nazar.
Can we expect an EP or an album to come from you in the future?
Jumpa: Yes! I just started working on an EP. I already got a lot of ideas and will implement them now piece by piece.
Do you have any preference on which artists you collaborate with?
Jumpa: Not yet.
If you could go b2b with any artist, who would it be?
Jumpa: Definitely The Weekend. He’s been my favorite artist for three years and to work with him one time would be a dream come true.
Anything you want to say to your fans?
Jumpa: I want to thank everyone who is supporting our song “Don’t Go”. More music is coming soon! 🙂
