Originally scheduled for the cavernous Hisense Arena, Parisian DJ duo Justice moved their setup to the cozier Margaret Court Arena and treated attendees to a rare, intimate show with one of the biggest acts in electronic music. However, just because they moved to a smaller venue didn’t mean they cut down on the production value. All fans were treated to the full Justice experience in a uniquely small locale.
Unlike most electronic acts, Justice only plays songs and remixes they’ve created. There’s no cross-contamination here. You want to see a Justice show, you’re seeing a Justice-only show. The set list was a journey through their entire catalog, with an emphasis on songs from their latest album, Woman. All of the favorites were present, but the stars of the show were songs like “Safe and Sound,” “Alakazam,” and “Heavy Metal.”
As with any Justice event, the light-show was perfectly synced and incredibly done. Their visual productions are unique because they don’t use complicated graphics or convoluted images. They keep things simple with solid colored blocks of light (expertly camouflaged like amps), along with seemingly simple light fixtures (including with the iconic cross). However, everything is programmed so well that it’s positively dazzling. It presented concert goers with a difficult choice, vibe to the music or stand there with mouths agape watching the brilliant lights as they dance around the stage.
Their time in Australia will be remembered fondly by all that had the fortune to watch this incredible act in a one-of-a-kind setting in Melbourne.
Thanks Justice, let’s not wait five years to do this again.
Justice’s Woman tour will be winding through Mexico in April, and then heading to Europe after that. If you get a chance, definitely check the show out. Justice is an act that always puts on a fantastic show.
