Fresh off of his college graduation, Justin Jay is ready to spread his wings as the youngest dirtybird and take off to a whole new level of heights. In 2015 alone, the Dirtybird prodigy released his most multi-faceted record to date with his Momentum EP on Pets Recordings, and followed that up with a fan-favorite freebie, “Mind Games,” that has been locked away in his vault since the WMC Dirtybird BBQ in 2013. With school behind him, Jay has wholeheartedly dove into his career, playing a stand-out set at The Do Lab at Coachella, the Portland Dirtybird BBQ, Northern Nights, and embarked on his very first Australian tour. Somehow in the midst of all that, Jay has still managed to work on his music, and we’re seeing the fruits of his labor on his newest release, a collaboration with Chris Lorenzo titled “Storm.”
While “Storm” isn’t the typical booty-shaking house offerings you’d expect from Justin Jay and dirtybird, it shines a spotlight on his versatility as a producer. Four-on-the-floor house beats take a backseat to a breakbeat style that is underlined by a dreamy melody and earth-moving bass.
