Graduating from college can be a stressful time, but it was anything but for Dirtybird’s 22-year-old rising star Justin Jay. Just a few months ago, he graduated from USC, and now he’s celebrating with a fresh release on Dirtybird, the label that had taken him under their wing several years ago. This newest offering is his Mom, I Graduated! EP that keeps things fun and playful, but also serious, in terms of dance floor credibility. The first song, “Hit It,” packs a hefty punch as it’s fueled by an array of bass, keys, and a vocal sample that’s both vocoder-aided and organic for a truly outstanding track.
As if this new EP wasn’t enough, Justin Jay also dropped news about his world tour that begins at Electric Zoo on September 5th, and ends in Boston on December 5th, after taking him around the world.
