K Theory, the hip-hop/trap group out of San Francisco announced today that they will be releasing an ridiculous amount of music in the coming weeks. 25 tracks in 25 days, enough for two albums, will be available to us every day this month. These releases will precede the massive year that K Theory feels it has in the making for 2015.
You may be asking why a group would release that quantity of music for free. The story behind their motivation begins last year when one of the group, Dylan, got really sick and had to be placed into a medically induced coma. After successfully recovering, Dylan realized that he would never have been able to experience all of the unreleased music that the group had created had he not survived. He speaks about it saying,
“My biggest regret of nearly dying was all of my unfinished demos and mass unreleased catalog that we have as K Theory, so I thought what better a way than to give out 25 tracks during [December] this year to commemorate our work, share the love of free music, and unload some of these gems collecting dust on our hard drives.”
“Way Too Young” their first release is the tribute song to Dylan’s harrowing experience. It combines the electro-trap that the group is renowned for. The verses extol the idea of being “too young to die” and then the track breaks down into a bass heavy section that I really enjoyed. Check out the track below and be ready for a bunch of K Theory as the month progresses!
