Releasing on Tchami’s label Confession, Kage has unleashed some aggressive, haunting house music through the 2-track Oblivion EP. Featuring title track “Oblivion” and “Alchemy,” he well-articulates a rich fantasy around some pretty infectious jams. “Oblivion,” uses dark vocal sample, soft drums, and smooth brass to bring out a 128BPM energy that’s hard to compare with other tracks. Slightly poppy and all instrumental, he nails the opening track. “Alchemy,” lets loose a bit more with a more club-friendly feel while really letting the darkness pile on, juxtaposing nicely the first track in all the right ways, the two tunes feed of one another just right way. Oblivion EP is an experience that’s easy to return to.
Kage is following his remix of Tchami & Suburban Plaza’s “Toxic Love,” where he balanced the elements of his style and the aspects of the original track perfectly.
Watch out for more to come from this artist in good time, Kage is catching some serious heat with his distinctive sound.
