Two words came to mind when listening to Kai Wachi’s new two-track EP ICHOR: introverted and experimental. Massive banger moments, tribal vibes, extremely melancholy sounds, all of which elevate the “on-your-toes” feeling surrounding the EP as a whole. Kai Wachi sticks close to the family with this one, dropping it on Kannibalen Records per usual.
“ICHOR” with G-Rex is the heavier of the two, teasing experimentation but, in part, symbolizing he’s still about thrashing. “Cerberus” has Wachi on the solo and delivers an experimental, refreshing side of him we don’t see as often.
Kai Wachi has shifted from a regular roster player to being a forefront act of Kannibalen Records, started by BTSM, a gradual shift that naturally occurred as fans began to latch on to his bass releases at a greater rate. Pair this with the soloists ability to churn out consistent tunes and you get the Kai Wachi we see today, over 100,000 followers deep.
