For my first post, I thought I’d introduce yall to the up and coming mash-up artist Kap Slap, aka Jared Lucas, from Lehigh University in PA. He’s been crankin out the jams this summer. What’s his sound like, you ask? It’s tough to put him in a category since his tracks have so many different aspects to them, but according to his twitter: “Think Deadmau5, Avicii, & Skrillex infused with LMFAO, Britney and Katy Perry.” His tracks are good for any party: electro bangers with top40ish lyrics that everyone will know. Ever find yourself at a house party cranking dubstep or whatever, only to have the robot ear-less haters bitch about your song selection? Have no fear, Kap Slap is here! Best of all, his songs are available for free download, since they’re mashups.
My favorite of his is undoubtedly Rave N Roll On The Floor, which he released back in July. It’s a mash of Chrizz Luvly – Ravadelic, JLo & Pitbull – On The Floor, Borgore – Someone Elses (Document One Remix), Cataracts – Bass Down Low, and of course, Skrillex – Rock N Roll. Starts with buildup & lyrics until the initial drop at 0:45. From there it continues with plenty of samples you’ll recognize, leading up to “RUDEBOY BASS” drop @ 2:13. I was impressed at how well he was able to mix these sounds without the Skrillex part overpowering the whole track and making it clash. Anyway:

This track doesn’t have nearly as much energy as the previous one, but its got a nice club/trance vibe to it:
