There are two trends making huge waves in electronic music this summer: the use of live instruments in DJ sets and tropical house. Luckily, Klingande has managed to capitalize on both of these incredible elements by incorporating them into their original music. His most notable release, “Jubel” has been gaining worldwide popularity. With over 7 million SoundCloud plays, this track should be a part of everyone’s daily playlist. Filled with intoxicating melodies and built up by soulful vocals and instrumental solos, there’s no question why Klingande has gotten so big. His signature sound combines live recordings of jazzy instruments with mellow, yet uplifting, tropical/tribal melodies.
Klingande has recently won the heart of the American people, and, last week came to America for three shows, packing every venue full. Not too bad for the first time in the US, right? With this much success, there’s no doubt that Klingande is here to stay. If you get a chance, listen to his recent mix for Thomas Jack’s Tropical House Vol. 4 and get ready to be swept away by musical magic.
Ultra Records has also picked up “Jubel” to be a part of their Deep House Compilation, alongside huge names such as MK, Bondax, Chris Malinchak and others. It will be released June 28th and you can check out an exclusive sample of the album here.
Get to know the DJs that will soon be adorning the lineups of huge festivals and be some of the first to join the Klingande party. Before their first show in America, we were able to talk to Cedric about how it felt to have Klingande’s music so well-received and the plans for the future.
Are you in LA right now?
Yes.
Is this your first show in the US?
Yeah, I’m really excited to be here!
So your US tour has been selling out everywhere, are you planning on doing more dates here?
I would like to play more here, I think after this tour I’ll have more dates in the US. It’s so far been very successful, I don’t quite have a feel of the crowd yet, but I’m really excited.
So I know that you have a few releases out, and “Jubel” is going to be a part of Ultra’s Deep House Compilation. So what’s next for you?
I’ve been producing a lot. Since last year I’ve been working a lot on the next thing. Now I have so many ideas I can make an album. I’m going to be taking some time touring, and I’m making more music. I think the album will be coming out in September, maybe the end of September?
Your songs have a jazzy kind of feel to them, and you incorporate a lot of tropical/tribal vibes into your music. Are we going to see this pattern continue for your next releases?
I’m definitely going to continue making this kind of music because it’s what I like. You know what I really love? When I have some real instruments. So I think for this new album I will only use real instruments. (pauses) Yeah, I think I will always do this kind of music. (laughs)
So you said you guys record all of your own instruments?
Yeah and I have some new ideas for instruments. I think our fans will be expecting certain instruments, but I want it to be more than that. I’ll definitely have a little bit of saxophone in there, and maybe some violin and some new instruments. That’s always with keeping in mind to create a lot of energy in my music as well.
That sounds incredible. How do you feel about Ultra Records picking your song to be a part of their compilation for deep house?
You’re very nice. I don’t know, when I finished my music one year ago, I never expected anything. Now it’s really crazy because the song is everywhere. So, I think I’m very lucky and I’m very proud of that.
Why do you think melodic house and deep house is getting so popular in the US this summer?
I hope it’s gonna be popular, at the moment I don’t know what to expect. It’s quite new for the US, but I have a lot of good feedback. So hey, I hope it’s going to be big because I really like this country and you know you can tell that EDM music is really, really big and so I hope that they’re going to love this kind of deep house.
So is this huge in the UK, or Europe in general?
In the beginning it was very popular in Germany, then it came to France, and now it’s really been growing in the UK since like the beginning of the year. It’s been going really well. It’ s great because now a lot of artists are making this kind of music, and the more artists you have the more it can grow.
Do you play deep house in your sets?
Yeah I play a lot of deep house in my sets, because I like my sets to be progressive. I love my sets to have a lot of different music, so I play a lot of deep house and tech house, then of course melodic house and any kind of great music.
What would you say has been the most memorable moment for you in your music career so far?
?It would probably be my first time on stage, because it was the first time I got to be in front of a crowd and really get to feel the energy of everyone there.
