Darker feeling-house, such as genres like bass house and some aspects of future house, have grown into it’s own world, with themes of horror, gothic, screeching sounds, ect., all making their way into this new club-friendy form of powerful house. If still lost, check out NIGHTOWLS; a strong example of the vibe I am talking about.
Getting to the point, Koos and Dustycloud take this sound a step further, adding what seems to be big-room atmospherics to the dark-angled house sounds described above. The fusion hits hard and is easy to get lost in. “Blackout” features strings in the drop, a splash of Miami bass influence, and a melodic bridge that gives the tune a nice release from the dark tension – a balance needed in any great energetic single.
