This past weekend, Life Is Beautiful had its 6th consecutive and successful year in Downtown Las Vegas, and we’re still feeling the love and good vibes from this amazing festival. Around this time last year, Vegas was hit with a horrific tragedy that resulted in 58 deaths and 851 injuries at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival; literally a weekend right after Life Is Beautiful 2017. With such a traumatic event, people were questioning if any event in Vegas could bring back the beauty of life. This weekend proved that music and art fans from all around the world could come together in peace and love to show that life could be beautiful once again.
“Vegas Strong” was a term that was displayed all throughout the festival, as festival goers came in each day with the biggest smiles on their faces. Once you walked through the gates, it felt like all of your worries and troubles from everyday life disappeared and we could focus on the one thing we came to do: to let go and rage!
Apart from many other festivals, Life Is Beautiful proves that it’s not just a music festival, it’s also a comedy, art, and food festival. Notable comedians such as Jimmy O. Yang, Natasha Leggero, and Hannibal Buress gave festival goers a little break from all the madness, as they performed hilarious stand-up performances in the air conditioned comedy stage.
One of our favorite performances from this weekend was from French electronic duo, Justice. Performing their Woman Worldwide tour production, the duo captivated the large crowd with their beautiful display of funky house, beautiful lights, and many, many Marshall speakers. The crowd was dancing and grooving all throughout their set.
As always, the Fremont Stage housed all of the notable EDM acts. Popular DJ’s such a Cashmere Cat, Sam Feldt, and RL Grime performed huge sets for the large Vegas crowd. The tented stage was filled with beautiful lasers and visuals as thousands of fans were moshing and jumping around. Unfortunately Goldlink cancelled last minute, but Slushii filled in to deliver a filthy set on the last day of the festival. Our favorite set at the Fremont Stage this weekend was from Party Favor, who played a good mix of trap, house, and hip-hop.
On the first main stage (Downtown), we received huge headlining sets from Arcade Fire, Florence + The Machine, and The Weeknd. The crowd was filled with good vibes and it never felt unsafe or like a hassle to weave in and out of the space. Odesza, Tyler the Creator, and Travis Scott also had unforgettable sets at the second main stage (Bacardi). Tyler the Creator, with a beautiful smile on his face, thanked the amazing crowd for making him feel so loved and welcomed.
This year’s Life Is Beautiful proved just how strong the power of music and art can be. Although it has barely been a year since the deadly tragedy, fans from all around the world still came together to experience and enjoy live music, food, art, and comedy. Out of all the festivals we’ve been to, Life Is Beautiful is definitely one of our favorites due to its good nature and vibes. The awesome crowd is honestly what makes this festival so much fun. As with some big named festivals who have been around for a long time, you’ll usually see an influx of people who only attend for the name of the festival, so they can take pictures and show off that they were actually there. However, with Life Is Beautiful, you can tell people are genuinely there to escape the outside world to laugh, love, and dance. It truly is beautiful.
