Everyone we talked to in 2014 who had been to Lighting in A Bottle (LIB) recommended it as one of their favorite festivals. Set in beautiful Southern California and touting a lineup of talent with names like Gramatik, Phantogram, and Beats Antique, LIB 2014 had all the makings of an awesome time. However, as many of us who experiences Hudson know, a stacked lineup and good location isn’t all it takes to pull off a successful and enjoyable fest.
This week LIB posted a list of “improvements” that they will be making for their 2015 version of the fest that is set to go down this Memorial Day Weekend.
The fest putting out this list impressed us for two reasons. First this shows the attention to detail and more importantly the attention to their fanbase who they surveyed about the festival. Second, this list shows an admission of mistakes (however small they may have been) that LIB made but is willing to take the time to correct. While many festivals would be content to have as good a year as they did last year, LIB is insistent on improving their event to reach its full potential.
They stressed more water, less dust, more shade (thats huge), new layout, and better ingress and egress from the camping sites. All of these issues are common among festivals so to see LIB make a concerted effort to make sure their attendees are as comfortable and happy is great to see.
This sort of attention to detail is what puts festivals on the level of an Electric Forest or Shambhala. We can’t wait to see what Lightning in a Bottle has planned for 2015! Check out the full list here and tickets here.
