Lollapalooza is a word that reaches to all generations. Whether you are a festival goer or not, young or old, Lollapalooza is a generation. A festival that originally shifted between different places, and finally finding its home in Chicago.
To help celebrate 25 years of bringing all genres of music to fans for one monumental weekend, Lollapalooza announces today that they be expanding to a four day celebration expanding to Thursday, July 28th. That means that from Thursday, July 28th to Sunday, July 31st, fans will be given over 170 performances. Founder Perrry Farrell had to say:
It’s our 25th Anniversary and we wanted to do something really special and different for our fans. There’s a lot of really great music coming out in 2016; with the abundance of talent that wanted to help us celebrate 25 years we got to thinking…‘How are we going to fit all those great artists in one weekend?’ Then we thought about what a special day Thursday has become. When the party can’t wait for the weekend, the movers and shakers make it happen on Thursday! So, we’ve put together an entire additional day of music to celebrate our milestone year. It’s going to be a fantastic party!
As a veteran of Lollapalooza for the past five years, I can tell you, that Lollapalooza knows what they’re doing. They’ve had to experience, they have the staff, they have the embrace of an amazingly welcoming city, and they have a mix of fans that comes that is comparable to no other festival out there.
Tickets will go on sale this spring 2016, with 4-day passes going for $335 (includes fees), and single day tickets will be $120 (includes fees). Look out for a more specific date to be announced in the coming months, and get planning, because it’s going to be an anniversary to remember.
With EDC Las Vegas celebrating 20 years in Las Vegas at the end of June, and now Lollapalooza celebrating their 25 years in Chicago at the end of July, 2016 is shaping up to be an amazing festival year.
