Nothing brings the vibes of Spring and festival season together quite like some chill, uplifting electro. Panu Niemi, better known as Lollichop, is a seasoned electro producer coming out of Finland and WRR has the pleasure of showing off his latest release, “Less Than Three”.
His use of lower-range BPM along with funky, stimulating synths is reminiscent of Mord Fustang’s style, but with a unique twist. Have a listen to the track and be sure to check out our interview below as we dive into the thoughts of the talented future-electro producer.
Interview
What was the inspiration for the song style as well as track title? Are you a fan of the blog of the same title?
I found an old project from my computer titled “lessthanthree”. It was supposed to be released as a Valentine’s Day freebie about 3 years ago, but I never finished it. I really liked the chord progression, so I decided to remake it.
Whats the main message or feeling you try to convey to your audience?
Simply, I just want to bring good vibes.
Whats your favorite part about performing live?
Seeing audience’s reaction to tracks they haven’t heard before. I just love the face people make when they get positively surprised.
There are a lot of artists we’ve got our eye on for 2015, name your top 3.
Damnit, I know so many talented producers, and it’s really hard to name just a few. I’ll have to go with: Steve Levant, Tontario and Topi (Not in order).
Where do you find new music and inspiration?
As boring as it sounds, I find all the new music from the internet. Inspiration, on the other hand, could come from anywhere. Like from a nice weather, for example. If I try to get inspired from others’ music, I just end up copying them, which is NOT good.
Have you ever messed around recording/sampling something and ended up keeping it. If so, what?
Well, I recorded myself slapping my bare ass once. Made a pretty nice clap out of that. I can’t be the only one who’s done that…
What’s your setup? (hardware & software)
FL Studio 11, Ableton Live 9, Arturia Minilab midi-keyboard and a pair of headphones. Keepin’ it simple, yo!
Whats coming up next in 2015?
Definitely more music, and hopefully more shows ?
Thanks for the exclusive interview, we know that there is loads planned for the future and readers can’t wait to see what’s next!
