The innocence of teenage Lorde’s infectious vocals fuse with Biggie’s aggressive tone towards the woman he’s rapping to in “Can I Get Witcha”, in this mashup that defies logic and transcends expectations.
On one side we have this rising talent in Ella Yelich-O’Connor, Lorde an Auckland native who’s has a record deal since the age of 13 and then Biggie Smalls, the savior of East Coast rap, a legend taken from the world too early.
The contradiction between the two forces the listener to play through the track over and over again, at first only to understand how they were combined and then finally to enjoy its greatness.
