Calling all Macrohard fans: prepare yourselves to get a serious fill of your favorite artist with his newewst podcast serious.
The accomplished Joon Cho, a.k.a Macrohard, has teamed up with Radio Adidas/ Adidas Original to launch his debut podcast and it is FIRE. For those of you who aren’t in the know with the massive sounds of Macrohard, here’s a quick rundown of the man behind the music. DJ, producer, and Music Directior of Bad Reputation NYC, Macrohard’s work is an ode to the sounds of the hip-hop he grew up listening to in America while influenced by his Korean background. Early on, he put out tunes on labels such as Moomba+ Records, After Mess Records, and Daily Earfood, and in 2015 became an affiliate of Lalabela Music Group in New York (headed by the 7-time Grammy winning producer “Commissioner Gordon” Williams). This Seoul native was nominated the #2 DJ in all of South Korea and has conquered the country’s biggest stages with his House, Hip-Hop, and staple Glitch-Hop music. Most recently, his unreleased track was spun on BBC1xtra’s Diplo and Friends by the artist LIZ from Mad Decent and Colombia Records, which gave way to him partnering with the ever-so-famous brand Adidas; you can hear many of Macrohard’s original tracks in its stores across South Korea. Now residing in New York City, his goal is to plant his talents in the US by creating a bridge between all of the great music hailing from South Korea and the most popular tunes coming out of the US. What better way to begin this journey than through a podcast, right?
Full of excitement, Macrohard gave us some insight on this new venture of his and what we can expect to hear:
“This is the pilot episode for the podcast and I wanted to come out strong, for my namesake (Macrohard). With so many podcasts out there, I wanted to set myself apart with unique, fresh tracks. You will also recognize some remixes and samples of famous hip-hop tracks. Also, towards the end of the mix, you can hear one Korean track by the artist “Changmo” as I wanted to represent my Korean heritage. I want to capture the ears and hearts of all sorts of listeners so… I’ve decided to start off with themes, hence the title “Bass” for this mix. You will hear trap, dubstep, glitchhop, techno influences in this mix, and the final track is by yours truly, in collaboration with Treezus.”
As promised, this A+ debut “Bass” mix is booming with—you guessed it—bass, and offers an incredibly diverse lineup including “Fourth Impact” by Rezz, K?d, “Rift Walkers” by Seriph, Chromatic, “Pnoid” by Guccimen, and “My Adidas” by Run D.M.C., just to give you an idea. The 45-track mix wraps up on a high note with his popular collaboration with Treezus, “Entanglement.” Luck for you, we’ve got both the podcast up top for your listening pleasure and the entire track list down below. Now, put your headphones in place and get ready to hear Macrohard throw it down steadfast and strong with Radio Adidas.
