Budweiser’s Made In America Fest returns this Labor Day Weekend and it’s not just to Philadelphia for the third consecutive year.
For the first time ever, a music festival will take place simultaneously on each coast as Made In America Fest expands to Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles, California.
And if that hasn’t already blown your mind, then each carefully curated lineup surely will. We love that Made In America is genre defying. It’s not electronic, it’s not rock, it’s not hip hop. Instead they’ve chosen to cater to cultured music listeners of all kinds.
This has definitely made them stand out in a crowded space and establish themselves as one of the premiere festival experiences in the country.
However, given that the event is taking place in both Los Angeles and Philadelphia on August 30 and 31 you run into the one thing all festival goers fear… schedule conflicts. But this time instead of running from one stage to the other to see your favorite act, you’ll have to fly across the country.
Impossible for you and I, more possible if your name is Jay Z… but the simultaneous shows has lead us to debate:
Who has it better? LA or Philly?
We’re going to breakdown both the lineups and give you our opinion. Of course, you’re free to comment below and tell us how wrong we are.

But… the lineup is rounded out by a lot of older acts like Sublime with Rome, Cypress Hill and Weezer that would have been better at an alternative festival years ago.

Cole, Girl Talk, Spoon, Chromeo, City and Colour, Grimes, AWOLNATION, R3HAB, Gareth Emery, De La Soul, Baauer, Tommy Trash, Mayer Hawthorne, Kongos, 3LAU, The Neighborhood, Danny Brown, YG, Holy Ghost, Penguin Prison, Destructo, Bleachers, DJ Cassidy, Cherub, Will Sparks, Young & Sick, Vacationer, Cut Snake, Kaneholler

I’m trying to find where they missed on the Philadelphia Festival, but it’s hard to pinpoint anything. I even love the acoustic sound of City and Colour, a welcome break from the more intense dance music and hip hop.
And the winner is….
Scientifically speaking alternative rockers Imagine Dragons lose out to Kings of Leon, Tiesto beats Afrojack a million to one, and the combination of Spoon, Chromeo and Grimes is preferred listening over Sublime without Nowell, Cypress Hill and Weezer.
So in this faux battle of East Coast vs West Coast, we’ve got the East Coast narrowly coming ahead.
But… since Made In America Fest Philly has a two-year head start, we’re officially calling this battle a tie. Each festival should be an amazing experience and truly there’s no better way to party this Labor Day Weekend.
