With a career that has spanned such accomplishments as a stint on acclaimed HBO drama The Wire to a recurring role on ABC comedy Suburgatory, Maestro Harrell’s talent has now crossed over into the world of EDM production. His latest remix, a progressive take on Vance Joy’s “Riptide”, foreshadows a very fruitful career for the young producer.
Harrell’s take on the track simultaneously emphasizes the catchy vocals and playful guitar licks while also crafting an entirely new melody, one which accentuates the beauty of the original. The build-up playfully adds a bouncy, latin-influenced drum beat which weaves perfectly within “Riptide”‘s aesthetic. The central melody charts an entirely new course for the remix, one which uplifts the listener with its cheery synths and subtly grooving bass line.
