The Daily Mail, which is the second largest selling daily newspaper in the UK, mistaked A-Trak for a member of Odd Future on August 19th, 2014.
Flan Emoji, A-Trak’s twitter name, showed up in The Daily Mail’s article which originally stated, “Two members of California hip-hop collective Odd Future have weighed in on the video – despite admitting to not having even watched it – slamming the 24-year-old for ‘perpetuating black stereotypes’ with her attempts at break dancing and twerking. Bandmate Flan Emoji also piped up, adding: ‘You know what this Taylor Swift video is missing? Some nice graffiti by Bieber. Let’s be urban, everyone! Yay, cupcakes.‘”
Both of The Daily Mail’s photo captions (pictured above) even outlined A-Trak’s made up twitter signature. Well, It seems now the attention has turned from Taylor Swift’s controversial video to The Daily Mail’s lack of fact checking.
