In the EDM world, we have several female vocalists that we strongly associate with addictive remixes, haunting choruses and some of the most emotional tracks known to EDM. Ellie Golding, Eva Simmons, Amber Coffman, Nadia Ali, Alana, etc. The ladies of EDM bring vocals that act as aural opiates, undeniably hooking and we cannot get enough.
This past week, I stumbled on to Marina and The Diamonds while surfing Diplo’s soundcloud. Marina’s track “Lies” is produced by Diplo and Dr. Luke and combines her rich vocals with heavy beats, melodies and drops that will make your skin tingle. Besides the track “Lies,” you’ve probably heard Marina’s track “primadonna”– you may not remember it clearly, but listen to it because I can guarantee its been dropped at 1 or 2 of your favorite shows this year.
Primadonna (and many of Marina’s tracks) have been sampled and remixed by some of the biggest names in the business. Havent heard of her? Get ready, like Ellie, Eva, and Nadia, she is about to become a new voice of electronic dance music. Believe it.
