17 year-old Martin Garrix has earned a spot as #17 on Billboard’s 21 Under 21 List, which is an annual list that ranks the most successful young artists of the year. Listed amongst the likes of teen sensations One Direction, Miley Cyrus, and Justin Bieber, Martin stands out as the only electronic dance music artist mentioned in the rankings, renowned for his ever-present hit of the summer, “Animals”. It was nearly impossible to attend a festival this past summer without hearing its catchy big-room drop at various stages. With over 25 million hits on YouTube, many electronic music fans were surprised to find out that this tune was actually produced by a 17 year-old. Although some may not like the fact that the electronic music scene is getting attention from the mainstream media, very few young artists have taken the industry by such a storm as Martin Garrix has.
