The bold and talented Mat Zo came out with a fun release and big news on April 14. Apparently the London based producer has had enough of the traditional, but increasingly unpopular, way of acquiring music. He took to Facebook today to announce:
“Good news, no more waiting around for music! From now on every track will be uploaded to the public on soundcloud as soon as it’s finished.
Not only that but every track will be available for download without any charge.
If even half of the people reading this post download my track, then I will already have reached more people than I would on beatport or itunes. Here is my first release under the new system.“
If you follow his Twitter, you already know Matan loves to rant about anything and everything thats on his mind. This latest decision hasn’t had much of an effect on his tweeting, but he did emphasize that he doesn’t want to be paid, he just wants your support through downloads.
With the magnitude of this announcement, it’s easy to forget that Matan released a new track the same day. “Oldskool Trip” is a funky tune with its sound rooted in classic house. Zo brings some chopped, looped and soulful vocals and puts them over a full chorus of synth and percussion. Give it a play and let the groove take you somewhere where House is king. Check it below:
