It’s interesting whoever through the Language tour together, that they decided to include Mat Zo on the bill. His progressive house and trance style differentiates substantially from Porter’s electro heavy sets. He played a fitting opening set mixing big room tracks, that entranced the crowd. We were eagerly anticipating Zo to drop his newest release, The Sky (Purchase on Beatport) and he did towards the end. I think Zo held back slightly because he was an opening act, but I expect that he gained a lot of fans even though they may have expected something different.
Porter Robinson will be headlining the mainstage for many years to come. His evolution as a producer is evident through releases like Language while his track selection and living mixing has remarkably improved since the last time I saw him. Porter will cut into a song like Internet Friends, only to drop into another the next second. His set is high energy, aggressive, but still dance music that you’ll find yourself entranced in.
Overall that quality of the production and the talent has been unrivaled considering it was only a $30 ticket to attend. If you haven’t had the chance already, check out the remaining stops of the Language Tour to catch Porter Robinson, Mat Zo and the M-Machine.
