Matisyahu – Sunshine [Mellow 320 Official Release]

If Pretty Lights is electrosoulhiphop then Matisyahu is reggaesoulhebrewhiphop. You may have heard this track before; That’s because it has been floating around the web represented by live performance youtube clips and set rips but never has a full official been released, until now.

‘Sunshine’, like many Matisyahu songs, is an indescribable blending of musical critique. Compiled into one song – Poppy chorus’. Reggae chords followed by hip hop percussion paralleled with inspirational lyrical content resonant of an emcee. I’m not even the slightest bit religious.  Somehow though, the shit Matisyahu says seems to make sense in the moment even if its values are derived from that of Jewish themes.

Also known as MC Truth, Mathew Miller is an activist whose canvas is music with a defined purpose.  Needless to say he’s one of my favorite artists. Really hoping to have him join us at Dancefestopia (which happens to be his next live performance) as one of the meet and greet artists we will be hosting at our tent.
