Maya Jane Coles has killed it this year and is back at it again with the release of EP Darkside, again featuring vocals from Chelou and this marks the third EP to be taken from her new double LP Take Flight after Won’t Let You Down and Weak/Werk.
Maya Jane Coles has received worldwide critical acclaim from FADER, Wonderland, Mixmag, Complex, The Huffington Post and many others, while Radio 1’s Pete Tong made ‘Trails’ his “Essential New Tune”. As mentioned above, Maya Jane Cole’s work with Chelou continues; their first collaboration being by Nocturnal Sunshine alias producing ‘Believe’.
The first track ‘Darkside’ encapsulates Maya’s style but in slow motion and Chelou’s vocals transform it into something melancholic. While ‘Trails’ is more atmospheric and dreamy, ‘Passing Me By’ is more grounded and hot, a track in which the percussion takes over. All three tracks make this EP our favourite from Take Flight and portrays her talent.
