Take Flight is the newest album to be released by Maya on her own personal label I/AM/ME via Skint Records/BMG, and although two years have gone by since the last album release, the wait was more than worth it. Time, effort, and detail went into every single track which makes for an album that will be remembered long after we are gone.
Delicate vocals entrance the listener from the very beginning of the album in the track ‘Weak’. Psychedelic percussions, trip-hop beats, and a smooth intimate connection with the listener is Maya’s hook throughout the entire album. Collaborations with Chelou on the track ‘Darkside’, Wendy Rae Fowler on tracks ‘Misty Morning’ and ‘A Chemical Affair’, and GAPS in the song ‘Keep Me Warm’ help to provide a nice variety that supplements the album’s unique sound.
