Today New York’s Mayor Bloomberg defended Electric Zoo’s founder Mike Bindra by stating that over the last five years his music festival has maintained a “stellar record”. Bloomberg spoke out to the media and assured listeners that Bindra had been following the best practices when organizing this years Electric Zoo festival. He also said that the Electric Zoo team has “been nothing but cooperative” and he has “nothing but good things to say about them”.
“The bottom line here is that you see people here who are doing drugs that shouldn’t be doing drugs and you see the fatal consequences.” – Mayor Bloomberg
We are still unsure if Electric Zoo will return to Randall’s Island next year. The Mayor closed his remarks by saying “the city will have to take a look at every concert to see if the concert can be run safely.” If EZoo does return to the big apple you can expect much more security and many strict rules put in place to keep attendees safe.
While the fate of Electric Zoo New York remains unknown, we can be certain that this is just the beginning of an effort to prevent drug-related deaths at the music festivals we all pay hundreds of dollars to attend.
