Michal Menert of Pretty Lights Music ends his “Elements” series of releases with the final track, entitled “Your Ghost”. This track is pure electro-soul, blending the hip-hop beat with analog synths that is signature to Menert. The samples are scarce but add a nice addition when they come in, acting as some deadpan lyrics. If you’ve seen Menert live, you know that whether producing or putting on a show, he puts a lot of emotion and passion into his work. “Your Ghost” exemplifies this notion.
The record starts off easy but gets into some heavy bass lines for the majority of the time with some nice guitar plucks behind it. The soul vocals add a very nice touch, only coming in when needed. The middle of the track is a nice, slow break, getting back into the heavy bass lines and bursting horns. The final product is a perfect Menert track, blending soul and electronica effortlessly.
