Minimal Effort: All Hallow’s Eve was simple in its design and house music fans wouldn’t have it any other way. Riding our Uber to the Enox in the middle of the downtown Los Angeles Warehouse district was an experience in itself. Our driver got lost a couple times trying to navigate through the twisting streets, but then we found ourselves in front of an unassuming rectangle of a building with all sorts of characters roaming around.
Entering inside, the event was split up in two separate stages, the Masquerade, an indoor warehouse with an amazing industrial feel, and the outdoor Dead Garden, stocked with dangling vines and a discoball to help smooth out the vibes. All night, the consistent rhythm of house music could be heard throughout the venue along with a sea of bobbing heads contributing to the overall feeling of unity.
The Masquerade provided the warehouse experience of the year. The show kicked off with Adam Auburns B2B Bones and soon arrived a dance-crazed house set from Amine Edge & Dance. Vibes were kicking furiously at this point and our heads were knocked back by a creative fusion of genres provided by the Brodinski, who offered us a range from techno all the way to bass infused sounds. MK provided us with hard-hitting house music throughout his first half and then gave us all a chance to breath throwing in some original vocal smoother tracks. Finally, Claptone appeared and a plethora of black plague masks could be seen throughout the crowd, bouncing to the dark house beats.
The Dead Garden had a much more chill and pleasant vibe compared to the dark warehouse of the Masquerade and offered pleasant solace when one needed a breath of fresh air partying. Helping to set the happier vibes Human Resources + Matt Ossentjunk introduced followed by Eagles & Butterflies with his signature tribal sounding house music. Behrouz and Dusky picked up the pace and set the tone for the rest of the night. Leading into a hard thumping set from Damian Lazarus. As a perfect ending to the night, with smooth funky beats, Lee Burridge took to the stage and left us all feeling satisfied and content.
Minimal Effort has proved that Halloween is their time, and we cannot wait to experience it all again next year!
