Celebrating their immersion from beta-level development, Mixify.com is currently hosting the world’s very first digital music festival presented entirely online. Mixify’s “goal is to create an authentic environment for our fans and DJs [and] this upcoming event is the essence of who we are, a never-ending electronic music festival, where fans and DJs from all over the world can effectively party and connect from anywhere, anytime”. The aptly named UNITY Digital Music Festival, is a three day digital event meant to let DJs and EDM fans from around the globe be exposed to new music as well as give DJs a chance to further develop their audience.
Beginning yesterday, the festival represents five continents: North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. By including some of the best DJs of the world such as The Crystal Method, 3LAU, DJs from Mars and Adrian Lux, this festival has no shortage of big name bangers to help attract the attention of EDM-heads from all over the globe. Some of the biggest EDM blogs in the world such as ElectroHavoc, Digilove, Run The Trap, Trance Hub, and The Untz to name a few, will be providing us with an audible medley of their favorite DJs to share with the fest attendees.
One of the coolest parts of this whole event is the contest. The two DJs who bring the most attendees to their Mixify sets will have their names displayed proudly on the bill. Combined with their sleek user interface which lets you chat with other people in the “crowd” as well as the DJ themselves, I can see this festival becoming something of a phenomenon once it breaks out onto the scene. As far as I can see, there can be no greater concept than a free music festival where I can broaden my horizons from my couch while still pinching pennies to save up for future debauchery. I can see of no reason why you aren’t dragging your mouse to point at the address bar, typing in mixify.com and clicking on the artist who’s playing right now.
