The Alabama-raised experimental bass producer Ian Evans aka MIZE began his voyage through frequencies of light and bass in 2017. Inspired by heavy hitters such as Tipper and Netsky, the MIZE Project was curated by a psychedelic blend of heavy bass music, ambient downtempo, and melodic dubstep with some blended in hip hop influence.
Quickly making his reputation within the community known, with singles such as Satori, Grounded, Imagery, and Wakaan Debut EP, “Thought Process”. We’ve learned to expect big things out of MIZE.
With his latest project “ REFRACTION”, MIZE shows us his dynamic sound design by giving us a range of all the goods from flavors of trippy, downtempo, melodic dub to that wonky bass and wubz any Wakaan fam expects to hear. This futuristic track is definitely an attention grabber. You wouldn’t play this to a crowd you knew couldn’t handle that kind of energy.
“REFRACTION was one of those rare fleeting moments when I sit down in the studio and EVERYTHING just starts falling into place with what feels like no effort. This song is very special to me, as it’s a vibe I’ve been trying to nail since I started my project, and it poured from me out of seemingly nowhere. This is a tune I’ll be rinsing almost every set for years to come.”
