Breaking Moonrise Festival News:
After searching through the Baltimore Housing website we were able to find records that show multiple permits authorizing Moonrise Festival.

So what really happened to Moonrise Festival?
While the information we were able to find shows that they had permits to hold the festival, it doesn’t mean that they had all of them. There could have been issues with any number of organizations and which one it was exactly is still unclear at this time.
There is a tremendous amount of legal work behind holding these events and as we’ve seen with Ultra Music Festival almost getting shut down this past year, politicians are generally against music festivals.
We have reached out to the appropriate sources for comments on this story and will continue to update it with new information as it becomes available.

Stament from the Moonrise Festival Facebook page today,
It is with a heavy heart that we regret to announce the cancellation of this year’s Moonrise Festival. Although we have put everything we had into this event trying to make it happen we have hit a roadblock that we just cannot overcome as the final permit needed will not be approved.
We are devastated by what has happened but with just under 3 weeks out from this event we cannot move forward without this final permit. We want to both thank and apologize to the fans, the artists, all members of the media, and everyone else who have supported this event. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We have battled to keep this event alive and we are absolutely crushed by this turn of events.
Refunds can be received from directly from the Ticketfly webpage or through the outlet that you purchased your ticket from.
We are working on some alternative events in the area that will feature artists who were scheduled to perform on the festival. Please stand by for further information on these events as information confirms.
Moonrise Festival which was set to take place June 8-9, 2013 in Baltimore, Maryland and replace Starscape has been officially cancelled. There were rumors that the festival wouldn’t be going on, but it appears that they were unable to secure permits for the festival.
With a lineup featuring Pretty Lights, Snoop Lion, Avicii, Excision, Porter Robinson and more… it was literally one of the best festivals we’ve seen come together on the East Coast. To see it go, is such a waste of what was bound to be an incredible event.
For those who purchased tickets, refunds are available through Ticketfly or the outlet that you purchased tickets from. If you have already booked hotels or other forms of accommodations, it’s time to be creative and get your money back. You can still come to Baltimore (it’s a great city!) as Steez will be throwing local area shows with some of the artists on the lineup.
We’re not sure who’s or what’s to blame for Moonrise being unable to secure the final permits necessary to hold the festival. There were a lot of changes implemented to prevent the problems that occurred at Starscape last year from happening again. All of us at WhiteRaverRafting.com were planning on heading to Moonrise and are completely bummed about this happening.
