Detroit’s homegrown Movement, which was one of the first electronic music festivals in the United States, announced that they would be working hard to provide future dates and ticketing options since the event was not able to materialize in 2021. Due to ongoing pandemic and state regulations, as well as for the safety of the fans, the Movement Team is looking towards the future to reunite with techno enthusiasts in the beautiful city of Detroit.
Movement is a festival deeply rooted within the culture of the city itself, the event usually taking place at the iconic Hart Plaza. Hart Plaza sits alongside the Detroit River, smack-dab in the middle of the city’s downtown area. It encapsulates the spirit of Detroit and its people; local, forward-thinking, sophisticated, and welcoming. In recent years Detroit has reinvigorated itself as a technology hub, many even coining it as the next Silicon Valley. However there has been an incredibly talented pool of artists and innovators in Detroit since forever (the birthplace of techno, anyone?), so we are glad these movers and shakers are finally getting recognized for it. We hope to return to this enlightened city and Movement soon, but until then, we’ll be on the lookout for any updates from the festival. For now you can check out the official update from Movement below and never forget—Detroit Hustles Harder!
“We have been looking forward to reuniting with all of you on Memorial Day weekend, but the ongoing pandemic and state regulations have led us to the painful realization that our beloved Movement Festival will not happen in May 2021. We appreciate your patience as we continue to navigate our way through these challenging times and difficult decisions. Our team is working hard to provide updates about future dates and ticketing options. We will be in touch next month with more information. Big thanks to those who have held onto their tickets, your unwavering support will not go unnoticed. We promise that we will always look out for your safety and will work to bring you the greatest experience possible when we can all gather again in Techno City. In the meantime, we urge everyone to please stay safe, follow the health guidelines and respect one another.” — The Movement Detroit Team
