The Moving Castle Collective certainly caught me by surprise. Having never crossed their Soundcloud I was pleasantly shocked when Vol. 002 washed over my virgin ears consuming me for all nine tracks. In thirty short minutes I was taken on a complex journey through entrancing beats and vocals that while all were incredibly distinctive per track, wrapped together flawlessly from start to finish. Just when I thought I had figured them out, the enormous flip of Zedd’s “Stay the Night” at the end threw me for another loop. It made me wish I had never even heard the original cut.
Moving Castle started as an idea between ROBOKID, AOBeats, Manila Killa, and Hunt for the Breeze. AOBeats and Manilla Killa graciously took the time to shed some light on this masterful treasury, starting with the question, “Who is Moving Castle?”
Kappa Kavi, Jailo, and Vices hopped on very early on as well. We decided to put out a compilation, and reached out to Ba-kuura, and Dirty Chocolate to get involved and they were happy to get involved. For Vol. 002 we were happy to bring aboard WRLD, Dugong JR, Dave Luxe, Strehlow and Mark Johns to contribute tracks. We’re pretty much from the internet long story short, but we do come from all over the place. Including people from the second compilation we’ve got involvement from Massachusetts, Washington DC, Maryland, Florida, and internationally in the Netherlands, Australia, and Canada.
