Tons of hype has been circling around MYRNE. His LP with Gentle Bones has a certain “defining moment” atmosphere as the date was approaching. Upon listening to B4NGER PROJECT, MYRNE seems to include many elements found in his past releases – a intertwining of his sounds of sorts – yet an in refreshing theme of original uplift and warmth is present.
Some solid standouts include “B4NGER,””CRA2Y,” and “S3OUL.” “B4NGER,” ironically is one of the softer songs featured, although the drop has a bit more grit to it. “CRA2Y,” the second song on the album, is a top pick. A super-catchy melody paired with a phenomenally poppy chill trap-infused drop. The single sets the unique mood of the whole album. “S3OUL” takes the tempo in a fresh direction, adding a bounce, sensual single that falls somewhere between Cashmere Cat and Flume.
The LP is a collision of originality, pulling many different parts from various influences, within each track, it’s hard not to label the album both very relevant and very original. The experience just feels right, natural, and a proper step forward in dance music for the year.
