In 1969, the American counterculture was forever changed when 400,000 youths gathered for “3 Days of Peace & Music” at the Woodstock Festival in Bethel, N.Y. Due to the town’s hesitation to once again invite such chaos, since then there has not been another mass camping and music festival. In five short days, however, history is set to repeat itself, as thousands of people from all over the world will set up camp on the legendary grounds for the world’s longest standing electronic music festival, Mysteryland USA.
To commemorate the legend of Woodstock, and to celebrate what is sure to become yet another revolutionary turning point in festival history, Mysteryland USA has released two official theme songs, both remixes of Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit.” Performed by producer Kalm Kaoz and featuring vocals by Trinity, this modern electronic take on the ‘60s anthem is remixed by both M4SONIC and Lets Be Friends.
Famous for his remixes, Aussie producer M4SONIC’s flair for revamping classic tunes is evident with his take on “White Rabbit,” a high energy, progressive house anthem reminiscent of the whirlwind Mysteryland experience. The second remix, courtesy of London act Lets Be Friends, is a quintessential pump-up track, effortlessly combining Grace Slick’s imaginative lyrics with a series of explosive builds and drops.
Considered a defining moment of Woodstock, nearly fifty years ago Jefferson Airplane performed this song to festival-goers in the spirit of rebellion and creative expression. Today, the classic song has been remixed to reflect the modern state of music, but the message remains the same. Check out the tracks below and mentally prepare yourself to be a part of music history.
