Native Instruments just upgraded their Traktor S4 and S2 controller units, adding numerous features including plug-and-play capability with the Traktor DJ for iPad and iPhone application. They’ve continued what has worked for them in the past which is the seamless integration between hardware and software.
The facelift doesn’t show many deviations from the previous models, Native Instruments instead opting to improve upon what they already had rather than innovate any further. DJs and enthusiasts alike are clamoring over the new aluminum plated jog wheels that are a significant improvement from the plastic ones on the last version. Also included are 8 color-coded RGB buttons that trigger and identify loops, cue points, and samples.
The S4 retails at $799 while the S2 is available for $499. The new generation models should significantly reduce the price of the last generation, making them a value priced buy for any aspiring DJ. The Traktor S4 is used by DJs like Porter Robinson, Zedd and Seven Lions.
