We all know We Are Your Friends featuring Zac Effron was a total bust. The poor depiction of the music industry was saturated with bad stereotypes and poor acting and the only part to make it somewhat bare able were the scenes with actress and model Emily Ratajkowski (come on, no man nor woman can deny her beauty). There are many artists creating documentaries and the popularity of dance music has risen exponentially in recent years so it’s no surprise that different networks are incorporating the scene into films, but today Netflix released the trailer for the new original called XOXO, directed by Chris Louie, a fan of dance music who attended many raves out in LA growing up, and along with it will come a 16 track soundtrack featuring artists such as Kaskade, Galantis and Michael Brun.
Michael Brun has grown and acquired the attention of many large names including the music supervisor and executive producer on the film, Pete Tong, to have his new track releasing this Friday, August 5th as the lead single for the film, an exciting feat for this young DJ and Producer. The films premise relates closely to We Are Your Friends but focus’s more on the journey of a group of 20 somethings to this one particular festival called XOXO and the obstacles they face getting there. The cast includes Sarah Hyland (Modern Family), Graham Phillips (The Good Wife), Brett DelBuono, Chris D’Elia (Undateable), Haley Kiyoko (Jem & The Holograms), Colin Woodell (Masters of Sex), Ryan Hansen (Party Down, 2 Broke Girls), Ian Anthony Dale (Hawaii Five-0) and Ione Skye (Say Anything).
The film releases August 26th and the soundtrack pre-order begins August 5th on iTunes. Check out the trailer above and a new song from Grammy nominated electronic duo Galantis and East & Young called “Make Me Feel” available for download Friday, August 5th here.
