When the sun rose over the beaches in Constanta, Romania on Monday morning, you could still see a bunch of people hanging around, not wanting to let go of Neversea. The fest, which has just wrapped up its third edition, was once again a success with a total audience of 240,000 people, over 150 artists performing, dozens of vendors and sponsorsm and one unforgettable weekend.
Before we dive into what went on at Neversea, we must mention its amazing Blood Network Campaign. In exchange for a 1-day ticket or for cheaper full-passes, people were invited to donate blood at the mobile station that stopped across 9 big cities in Romania. The campaign was a success, with 1900 donors giving 840 liters of blood, which will reach about 6000 patients in need across all of Romania. The Blood Network is an official Untold and Neversea Campaign that has already been going on for a few years, and each time more and more people take part in it.
Now, let’s get right back to the fest. The opening day of the 2019 edition began with a sky full of fireworks for over 55.000 ravers from all over the world including the UK, Bulgaria, France, Italy, and Germany and, of course, Romania.
Alex Parker, INNA, Mahmut Orhan, ATB, Lucas & Steve, and Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman were some of the first names Neversea fans spoke, but the most anticipated moment of the night was the performance of American rapper G-Eazy, which also marked his first show in Romania.
“This is my first time visiting Romania, before I came here I only knew about the Transylvanian Dracula stories. As soon as I arrived here, I found out about the great Romanian audience. I was blown away by the love and energy of everyone that received me at NEVERSEA.” – G-Eazy
Day 2 kept the party going with performances from singer Sean Paul, followed by sets from Will Sparks, Danny Avila, Vini Vici, and finally Afrojack‘s larger-than-life closer.
Day 3 was by far the best for us. As the evening slowly settled over the Black Sea, British singer Jessie J conquered the Main Stage and jump started the party once again. KSHMR won the hearts of all Romanians by playing a song by Nicolae Furdui Iancu, a beloved folk singer. The song, “Noi suntem Romani (We are Romanians)” brought people together and overall made for a memorable moment on the stage of Neversea. Shortly after, it was time for Salvatore Ganacci to play the Main Stage, and boy was that a party. Fans couldn’t even catch a breath because up next was Steve Aoki. He played some tracks, threw some cake, and closed the third day in big style.
Saturday brought 60.000 people to the beach, reaching the peak of attendance for the festival that weekend. Lost Frequencies, BassJackers, Quintino and Matoma were the main acts of the last night, who went long and hard until the early hour of 6am.
Temple, The Ark, Daydreaming and Oasis gathered huge crowds under the music of Boris Brejcha, Tale of Us, Jamie Jones, El Nino, Dub Fx, Black Coffee, Steff da Campo and many more.
For those who couldn’t attend, organizers made sure some of the biggest sets were available live on the festival’s Youtube and Facebook pages. Over 3 million people tuned in to discover Neversea from the comfort of their own homes.
As this year’s edition wrapped up as a great success, registration has already opened for 2020. If you want to be one of the first to hear about artists announcement and get early access to tickets, be sure to register here.
Although next summer is a long ways away, we’re not too sad yet. Untold Festival, Neversea’s bigger brother, is only two weeks away.
