Beats by Dre released the first update to their product line since 2008 yesterday with the all new Beats Studio headphones. Previously all of their models were constructed by Monster, but now they are manufacturing their own products.
Luke Wood, CEO told Mashable,
“Although the silhouette of the product is very similar to the first Studio when you look at it, it’s been completely reimagined. There’s not one piece of how this works –- from a mechanical, acoustic, or electric standpoint — that’s from the original Studio headphone.”
It’s rare that any type of product can become dominant in the marketplace without any type of serious refreshes or remodels. The life cycle for cell phones is 8 – 12 months max, while detractors are complaining that we don’t have an iPhone 5S yet.
Part of their success can be attributed to the buy-in and sponsorships they have been able to secure not only in the dance music scene, but across all forms of celebrity.
The new Beats by Dre Studio headphones will go on-sale in August for $299.95.
