It’s hard to believe that Dutch DJ Nicky Romero didn’t even appear in the 2011 DJMag Top 100 DJs poll . He’s been a machine this year, releasing notable tracks on his own, and also producing alongside David Guetta (‘Metropolis’), Fedde le Grand (‘Sparks’), and Zedd (‘Human’) within the last couple of months. Now he’s making a splash with ‘Iron,’ featuring the vocals of Calvin Harris.
I first heard the track two weeks ago when Nicky made his Chicago debut at the MID nightclub and immediately felt the impact that only Harris’ silky vocals and Romero’s edgy house sound can have. Nicky Romero has become a recognizable name in dance music in such an insanely short period of time that there’s no doubt he’ll find himself a spot on the 2012 DJMag Top 100 (and it would help if you voted for him now). ‘Iron’ is definitely another weapon in his arsenal.
‘Iron’ will be available on Beatport September 10th via Nicky’s own venture Protocol Recordings. In the mean time, make sure to listen in to Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 this Friday for the official premier.
